Thai Iced Coffee is an amazing treat that someone created long ago in a country far away. After visiting Thailand earlier this year, it’s incredible how much American Thai Iced Coffee fails in comparison to the true drink.
Thai Iced Coffee in its most basic form is coffee, condensed milk and sugar. In Thailand, they may also stir in evaporated milk and a few other ingredients.
But finally, my wife and I found a place in Austin that has Thai Iced Coffee that is most similar to Thailand’s famous drink. Madam Mam’s on Guadalupe in the heart of The Drag.
This restaurant is actually downright popular with Thai food enthusiasts and they have a couple more locations in the Capitol City. We live a couple streets south of Hyde Park so it’s a short walk to this particular location. In fact, the last Thai restaurant I wrote about is only a few blocks down.
Please visit to drink the Thai Iced Coffee… it’s amazing. We’ve been ordering them around town and nothing compares. Thunderbird’s is great but has an odd taste that gives it a harsh vibe as if something was substituted.
We also ordered the Pad Thai which was at 40% for Pad Thai and the Pad Kee Mao which was Top Notch. What it comes down to is the Thai Iced Coffee. Please go getchya some. –JWB
