The Thai restaurant that designs the BEST Thai Iced Tea in Austin is Thai Kitchen. This place makes an orange, glowing lubricant housed in a styrofoam vessel that traps the deliciousness inside. A thirty minute process ensues after ordering while twenty five people calculate and combine materials, fabrics and softeners to infuse… Actually, now that I think about it, it only takes about 30 seconds to make: tea, milk and some ice.
It’s insane how good it is. Actually, the first time I tried it I felt that there was a very specific taste that shouldn’t be there. But I had to go back for more. Nowadays, I walk to Thai Kitchen every other day to grab one of these things and they now recognize me as the dude that only orders a Thai Iced Tea.
Their Pad Thai is amazing, although it’s not as good as some others in town and looks very different from the Pad Thai we had in Thailand (specifically the Phuket area). Their heart-numbing Pad Kee Mao is amazing as well. Go to Thai Kitchen in Austin on Guadalupe right north of Spiderhouse for a orange-liquid treat!
