There is Croatia, then there is Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is the most epic city I’ve ever been to. The entire Old Town is jaw-dropping and every corner has a bit of history from defensive structures to earthquake rattled towers and on to modern amenities. We quickly realized how different it is from Croatia, hence the title of this post.

Dubrovnik's Rooftops
Our Airbnb host told us “There is Croatia, and then there is Dubrovnik” after we told her how touristy the town was. And it is true, although there are many residents in the Old Town, the fortified destination has shop after shop containing the same old, same old items. With that said, this city is completely worth checking out or even moving to because of its palatial beauty. Below is an overview from the street level in the Old Town of Dubrovnik:

We also shot a video of us walking around the castle walls, setting up the Mavic Pro drone and filming with the gimbal that is attached to our GoPro to give you an idea of what it’s like to be up on the walls. There has been many attacks over the span of Dubrovnik’s existence including a relatively recent bombardment during Yugoslavia’s war in the 1990s. Evidence is scattered throughout the Old Town creating a scavenger hunt for traces of tension. Here is the video of us on the walls of Dubrovnik:

I’ll leave you with photos of our journey throughout this lovely city and we definitely plan on returning to get another perspective of Croatia’s unique and historical center of the South. –JWB
